Sustainability

The production of steel structures is energy-intensive. This is why we placed a special focus on sustainable energy concepts when building the new plant in Horgen. As a first step, we consistently opted for a heating system with a geothermal probe heat pump.

New technologies open up new possibilities. In 2021, we took the next step in our energy strategy in collaboration with the planning office Andy Wickart Haustechnik AG:

A photovoltaic system of the latest generation was installed on the roof of our plant. It comprises 421 modules on an area of 700m2 and has an output of approx. 140kWp. The annual production is around 130,000 kWh of electrical energy.

Thanks to the new PV system, we were not only able to optimize the existing heating system. In fact, we are now offsetting our own consumption with our electricity production.

From an overall economic perspective, the PV system enables us to make an active contribution to the energy transition by breaking consumption peaks that burden the grid and thus relieving the load on the electricity network.

Finally, sustainability goals also affect the quality of life of our employees in the workplace. By installing a free-cooling system, we have significantly improved the quality of space in the planning offices.
